The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Science Teacher (Temporary Maternity Cover) to join our dedicated Science Department and contribute to raising achievement for all students. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an immediate impact in a supportive and well-resourced school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive science curriculum content.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly to support learning outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students where appropriate.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing teacher education opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular activities and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant science subject specialism.
  • Proven experience in teaching science at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong subject knowledge in science and the ability to inspire student interest.
  • Commitment to raising student achievement and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take on additional responsibilities when required.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering science education in a specialist sports college setting.
  • Familiarity with interactive and technology-enhanced teaching methods.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Previous involvement in extra-curricular science activities or competitions.
