The Opportunity:

As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring statutory compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and delivering tailored interventions to support students with special educational needs. This is a key position within the school, impacting the lives of students and contributing to their academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and One Page Profiles for students on the SEN Register.
  • Ensure all formal documentation processes, including EHCP Review meetings, are completed within statutory timeframes.
  • Provide training and guidance to academy staff on differentiation strategies and SEND-related policies.
  • Liaise with parents, students, and external agencies in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Accurately input data and produce reports and recommendations for students with special educational needs.
  • Coordinate the deployment of Teaching Assistants to support the needs of SEND students effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with JCQ Regulations regarding Exam Access Arrangements.
  • Support the school’s mission to provide a holistic, inclusive education for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Proven experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise work effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with students, parents, and external agencies.
  • Ability to manage a student caseload and produce detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Experience in managing formal documentation processes and statutory deadlines.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing individualised support strategies.
  • Familiarity with the Outwood Grange Academies Trust and its values.
  • Experience with data management systems and report generation.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting with a focus on SEND.
