Cover Supervisor required to ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences.

The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences by implementing pre-set work programmes and maintaining a positive, constructive classroom environment. This role is essential in supporting teaching staff and ensuring students remain engaged and focused on their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences and implement pre-set work programmes.
  • Manage student behaviour in line with the school’s Consequences Policy to maintain a constructive learning environment.
  • Prepare the learning environment and materials in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Assist students with questions about set work and collect completed assignments.
  • Accurately record and report lesson attendance, including student entry and departure.
  • Support examination logistics by assisting in exam invigilation and reporting on pupil behaviour or issues using formal referral procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent communication skills with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow school policies.
  • Proficiency in using standard ICT packages, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in a school environment is desirable.
  • Ability to relate to students in a friendly and empathetic manner.
  • Awareness of safeguarding issues and the ability to recognise potential concerns.

Preferred

  • Experience in classroom management or teaching support roles.
  • Previous experience in covering classes during teacher absences.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
  • Willingness to obtain and enhance relevant qualifications and training.
