The Opportunity:

As Head of Maths, you will lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning across key stages, ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery and student achievement. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on student outcomes and shape the future of mathematics education at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4, including managing schemes of work and curriculum delivery.
  • Oversee day-to-day administration and staff management, including supporting NQTs and contributing to staff appointments.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance through data analysis, lesson observations, and work scrutiny.
  • Coordinate extra-curricular opportunities, subject competitions, and outreach activities to enhance student engagement.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Examinations Officer, Data Manager, parents, and senior leadership.
  • Present departmental development and pupil performance information to SLT and external partners.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
  • Carry out Form Tutor responsibilities and any reasonable additional duties as directed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Holder of a good degree
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Skilled in forming positive relationships and motivating pupils
  • Committed to ongoing personal and professional development

Preferred

  • Experience with curriculum development and leadership
  • Experience in managing a department and leading staff
  • Experience with extra-curricular activities and student engagement
  • Experience with data analysis and performance evaluation
