As Head of Maths, you will lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning across key stages, ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery and student achievement. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on student outcomes and shape the future of mathematics education at the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4, including managing schemes of work and curriculum delivery.
- Oversee day-to-day administration and staff management, including supporting NQTs and contributing to staff appointments.
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance through data analysis, lesson observations, and work scrutiny.
- Coordinate extra-curricular opportunities, subject competitions, and outreach activities to enhance student engagement.
- Maintain effective communication with the Examinations Officer, Data Manager, parents, and senior leadership.
- Present departmental development and pupil performance information to SLT and external partners.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
- Carry out Form Tutor responsibilities and any reasonable additional duties as directed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Holder of a good degree
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Skilled in forming positive relationships and motivating pupils
- Committed to ongoing personal and professional development
Preferred
- Experience with curriculum development and leadership
- Experience in managing a department and leading staff
- Experience with extra-curricular activities and student engagement
- Experience with data analysis and performance evaluation
