The Opportunity:

As the Head of Primary Studies, you will lead the academic direction of the primary department and oversee year 7 students. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of the National Curriculum for England and Wales, while supporting the school's mission of academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the primary department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Oversee the academic progress of students, including year 7 students, and provide strategic guidance.
  • Monitor and analyse student performance data to inform teaching and learning strategies.
  • Support the development of staff through leadership, mentoring, and professional training.
  • Collaborate with the school leadership team to ensure alignment with the school's educational goals.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents, students, and colleagues to support a positive learning environment.
  • Ensure the effective use of IT tools and data analysis techniques to improve student outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice among staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BSc) plus PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience in educational leadership with responsibility for student academic progress and staff development
  • Proven teaching experience within the primary school National Curriculum for England and Wales
  • Strong data collection and analysis skills related to student progress and achievement
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Strong classroom teaching experience with a record of improving student outcomes

Preferred

  • Masters level qualification
  • Experience working in a British School in Spain
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with an understanding of Catalan
  • Experience with professional development and reflective teaching practices
  • Strong presentation and IT skills, including use of Microsoft Excel
