The Head of RE will lead a dynamic and successful department that plays a central role in the school’s academic and spiritual life. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate RE teacher to take on a leadership role and help shape the future of religious education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the RE department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Develop and deliver a rich and coherent curriculum aligned with the Religious Education Directory and GCSE specifications.
- Support student attainment and progress, with a focus on achieving outstanding GCSE results.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to promote the Catholic vision and ethos of the school.
- Provide professional development opportunities for RE teachers and support colleagues in their growth.
- Foster a positive and inclusive department culture that reflects the school’s values and mission.
- Ensure the effective use of resources and technology to enhance teaching and learning.
- Promote the wider life and spiritual development of students through RE and school activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching RE to all abilities across Key Stages 3 and 4 for at least 3 years.
- Strong understanding of the GCSE specification and the Religious Education Directory.
- Excellent classroom practice and a passion for the subject.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the Catholic faith and the school’s mission and values.
- Willingness to take on leadership responsibilities and contribute to the Senior Leadership Team.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or taking on leadership roles within a school.
- Experience with curriculum development and staff training.
- Knowledge of Catholic life and pastoral care in an educational setting.
- Experience in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
