The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Religious Education to lead and develop a dynamic and inclusive curriculum that supports the spiritual, moral, and cultural development of students. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Religious Education department, ensuring it aligns with the school's Catholic values and curriculum standards.
  • Develop and implement a high-quality, engaging Religious Education curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate faith and values across the school's teaching and learning.
  • Provide professional development and support for Religious Education staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and outcomes in Religious Education.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure the school's vision and mission are reflected in all aspects of the curriculum.
  • Represent the school in external forums and events related to religious education and faith in schools.
  • Ensure the department adheres to all relevant policies, including safeguarding and equality.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Religious Education at secondary level.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting, preferably in a senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of Catholic teaching and the role of religion in education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver high-quality curriculum content.
  • Experience in working with students of all abilities and backgrounds.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum leadership or strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
  • Experience with pastoral care and safeguarding in an educational context.
  • Strong understanding of the role of faith in modern education.
