The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Head of Religious Education to lead and develop a dynamic and inclusive curriculum that supports the spiritual, moral, and cultural development of students. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Religious Education department, ensuring it aligns with the school's Catholic values and curriculum standards.
- Develop and implement a high-quality, engaging Religious Education curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate faith and values across the school's teaching and learning.
- Provide professional development and support for Religious Education staff.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and outcomes in Religious Education.
- Work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure the school's vision and mission are reflected in all aspects of the curriculum.
- Represent the school in external forums and events related to religious education and faith in schools.
- Ensure the department adheres to all relevant policies, including safeguarding and equality.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Religious Education at secondary level.
- Proven leadership experience in a school setting, preferably in a senior role.
- Strong knowledge of Catholic teaching and the role of religion in education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver high-quality curriculum content.
- Experience in working with students of all abilities and backgrounds.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum leadership or strategic planning.
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
- Experience with pastoral care and safeguarding in an educational context.
- Strong understanding of the role of faith in modern education.
