The Opportunity:

As the Head of Science, you will lead and inspire students through innovative and impactful science education. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all year groups.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging science curriculum that aligns with the school’s vision and international standards.
  • Inspire and motivate students through innovative teaching methods and meaningful learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular learning and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring all learners achieve their full potential.
  • Represent the school at external events and engage with the wider science community.
  • Support and mentor science teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of science equipment and resources in line with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in Science, specifically Biology and Chemistry.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of the English National Curriculum and international qualifications.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a Science department in an international school.
  • Familiarity with IGCSE, GCSE, IBDP, and BTEC qualifications.
  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiated instruction.
  • Experience with professional development and mentoring of teachers.
