The Opportunity:
As the Head of Science, you will lead and inspire a dedicated science faculty, driving academic excellence and innovation in teaching and learning. This role offers the chance to make a lasting impact on student achievement and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Science faculty through effective management and support
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning across the department
- Model outstanding teaching and lead collaborative planning and resource sharing
- Track and analyse student progress to inform curriculum and intervention strategies
- Support the continuous improvement of science education across all key stages
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to align science initiatives with school-wide goals
- Promote a culture of professional development and collaboration within the faculty
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality science education that meets the needs of all students
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Significant middle leader experience in a school setting
- Proven track record in raising student achievement and standards
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent knowledge of science curriculum and pedagogy
- Ability to monitor and evaluate teaching and learning effectively
- Experience in leading and developing a departmental team
Preferred
- Experience in leading a science department across key stages
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and inspection processes
- Experience in data analysis and curriculum development
- Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in education
