The Opportunity:

As the Head of Science, you will lead and inspire a dedicated science faculty, driving academic excellence and innovation in teaching and learning. This role offers the chance to make a lasting impact on student achievement and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Science faculty through effective management and support
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning across the department
  • Model outstanding teaching and lead collaborative planning and resource sharing
  • Track and analyse student progress to inform curriculum and intervention strategies
  • Support the continuous improvement of science education across all key stages
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to align science initiatives with school-wide goals
  • Promote a culture of professional development and collaboration within the faculty
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality science education that meets the needs of all students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant middle leader experience in a school setting
  • Proven track record in raising student achievement and standards
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of science curriculum and pedagogy
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate teaching and learning effectively
  • Experience in leading and developing a departmental team

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a science department across key stages
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and inspection processes
  • Experience in data analysis and curriculum development
  • Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in education
