The Opportunity:
As the Head of Science, you will lead and develop Science teaching across the school, with a focus on Key Stage 2. This is a key leadership role that shapes the science curriculum and inspires a love of learning in students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop Science teaching across the school, ensuring progression and engagement.
- Collaborate with the Head of KS1 and EYFS to align Science with overall curriculum goals.
- Oversee the implementation of Science lessons and support staff in delivering high-quality teaching.
- Promote a passion for Science among students and encourage hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
- Monitor student progress and provide targeted support for teachers to enhance Science outcomes.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events that promote Science and STEM.
- Support the development of Science resources and extracurricular activities.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Science education.
- Proven leadership experience in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of Science curriculum and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to child welfare and safeguarding.
Preferred
- Experience in leading Science departments or teaching across Key Stages.
- Ability to teach a second subject.
- Experience with continuous professional development and staff training.
- Familiarity with STEM initiatives and extracurricular learning.
