The Opportunity:

As the Head of Science, you will lead and develop Science teaching across the school, with a focus on Key Stage 2. This is a key leadership role that shapes the science curriculum and inspires a love of learning in students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop Science teaching across the school, ensuring progression and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Head of KS1 and EYFS to align Science with overall curriculum goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of Science lessons and support staff in delivering high-quality teaching.
  • Promote a passion for Science among students and encourage hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
  • Monitor student progress and provide targeted support for teachers to enhance Science outcomes.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events that promote Science and STEM.
  • Support the development of Science resources and extracurricular activities.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Science education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of Science curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to child welfare and safeguarding.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading Science departments or teaching across Key Stages.
  • Ability to teach a second subject.
  • Experience with continuous professional development and staff training.
  • Familiarity with STEM initiatives and extracurricular learning.
