The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of needs, helping them to develop the skills and confidence needed for success in education and beyond. This is a dynamic and impactful role, ideal for those who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with EHCPs or identified learning needs in lessons, around campus, and during unstructured time
  • Encouraging independence, resilience, and communication skills in learners
  • Promoting inclusive practices and advocating for student success
  • Working 1:1, in small groups, or supporting whole-class learning
  • Assisting students in engaging fully in college life, including trips, enrichment, and work placements
  • Using assistive technology and learning tools to enhance student access and engagement
  • Collaborating with teaching staff and parents/carers to monitor progress and celebrate achievement
  • Providing personal care where required and supporting students with medical, physical, or sensory needs

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people
  • Experience working with individuals with SEND, SEMH, or medical needs
  • A strengths-based approach that puts learner voice at the centre
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient, positive manner
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace new challenges
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English & Maths at grade C/4 or above

Preferred

  • Experience with assistive technology and inclusive learning strategies
  • Previous experience in a college or educational setting
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Experience in working with young people in a mentoring or support role
