The Opportunity:

A Head of Social Sciences is needed to lead and inspire the delivery of high-quality Social Science education. This role offers the chance to shape teaching strategies and make a meaningful impact on student learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Social Sciences department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to enhance Social Science education across all levels.
  • Deliver engaging and innovative lessons in Social Sciences and Health & Social Care.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve student outcomes.
  • Support the development of KS4 and KS5 students through effective curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to drive continuous improvement and innovation in teaching practices.
  • Participate in the wider school community through enrichment activities and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in Social Sciences or a minimum of four years of teaching experience in the subject.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or NQT with recent UK classroom experience.
  • Experience in teaching KS4 and KS5 Social Sciences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and leadership roles.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience with Health & Social Care curriculum delivery.
  • Passion for Social Sciences education and a commitment to continuous professional development.
