The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach History & Politics to students across all key stages, up to A Level and Oxbridge entrance.
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that foster critical thinking and a passion for the subject.
  • Develop and lead extra-curricular activities related to History & Politics.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the department’s curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Support students in their academic and personal development.
  • Stay up to date with current events and developments in History & Politics.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff training, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Contribute to the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree in History and Politics or a closely related field.
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching History & Politics at a secondary level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational abilities.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching girls or in an independent school setting.
  • Experience with Oxbridge entrance preparation.
  • Leadership experience within a department or school context.
  • Knowledge of current events and the ability to integrate them into teaching.
