Seeking a Housemaster/Housemistress with Second Language Support Experience to lead and support student well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the House to ensure a safe, supportive, and disciplined environment.
  • Provide high-quality pastoral care, supporting students’ emotional, academic, and social development.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to address individual student needs and support their academic progress.
  • Implement and enforce the School’s Behaviour Policy, ensuring a fair and consistent approach to discipline.
  • Liaise with the School Counsellor and Learning Support team to address student concerns and provide guidance.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, welfare, and attendance within the School’s management system.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for parents, ensuring clear communication and timely updates on student welfare and academic performance.
  • Oversee and support students in their participation in extracurricular and enrichment programs.
  • Ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection and Health and Safety policies.
  • Coordinate with relevant staff on admissions, house duties, trips, and other pastoral responsibilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or residential care role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Experience in providing support for students with diverse academic and personal needs, including those requiring second language support.
  • Familiarity with child protection, health and safety, and behaviour management policies.
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple responsibilities and priorities effectively.
  • Experience with student welfare, including emotional and academic support.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a bilingual or international school environment.
  • Knowledge of UK Government’s National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools.
  • Experience in managing a team of staff, including domestic and teaching personnel.
  • Experience in overseeing boarding programs and student life in a residential setting.
  • Proficiency in a second language, particularly English or Mandarin.
