The Opportunity:

As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting the growth and development of autistic students. This is a term-time only position, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in a caring and structured manner, promoting their personal and academic development.
  • Deliver high-quality, individualized support tailored to the needs of autistic students.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other mentors to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in training programs designed to enhance your skills and confidence in supporting autistic students.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents and carers.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive culture within the school community.
  • Assist in the delivery of specialist programs and activities tailored to the needs of students.
  • Work within a team that values your contributions and invests in your professional growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience in a supportive or caring role (paid or voluntary), with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent at grades 4/C or above, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • A relevant further qualification at NVQ Level 2 or above (e.g. NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants), or willingness to complete this within 12 months of employment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Enthusiasm for helping autistic students to thrive and achieve their potential.

Preferred

  • Experience with autism-specific support strategies or training.
  • Experience working in an educational setting with children with special educational needs.
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices and individualized learning approaches.
