The Opportunity:
The Learning Support Assistant will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing within the classroom and through targeted interventions. Working closely with the Head of Learning Support, this role helps remove barriers to learning and contributes to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and senior staff.
- Support teachers in planning and delivering learning activities for individuals, small groups, and whole classes.
- Assist pupils in developing independence, engagement, and positive behaviour.
- Adapt resources and activities to meet the needs of pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Support initiatives and strategies decided by senior leadership and department heads.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Work flexibly across different year groups and subjects as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent support and progress for all pupils.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a learning support or educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and support a range of pupils, including those with SEND.
- Commitment to promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and positive behaviour.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational environment.
- Knowledge of SEND and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Experience in observing and recording pupil progress.
- Familiarity with learning support frameworks and interventions.
