The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism and learning difficulties. Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to referrals and conduct initial assessments to determine the therapeutic and mental health needs of young people.
  • Lead and facilitate both group and individual therapy sessions, ensuring interventions align with the young person’s therapy plan.
  • Manage and review an assigned caseload, ensuring timely and effective delivery of support.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with other professionals to support students’ development and well-being.
  • Develop and implement person-centred programmes that focus on education, independence, and inclusion.
  • Provide ongoing support and monitoring to ensure the needs of students are consistently met.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents, carers, and other team members.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualification in speech and language therapy.
  • Experience working with young people with autism, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Ability to conduct assessments and deliver both individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a special needs environment.
  • Knowledge of person-centred planning and support strategies.
  • Experience with mental health interventions.
  • Familiarity with educational frameworks and therapeutic approaches for autism.
