The Opportunity:

As a Literacy Coordinator, you will lead the development of a strategic literacy framework that supports students from early English acquisition through to Cambridge IGCSE. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on student outcomes, teacher practice, and the overall academic culture of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a coherent, measurable literacy framework across early years, primary, and secondary phases.
  • Support students in building academic vocabulary, reading comprehension, extended writing, and examination readiness.
  • Collaborate with teachers across all phases to improve literacy outcomes and integrate literacy across the curriculum.
  • Design and deliver an engaging oracy and LAMDA pathway to nurture confident speakers and performers.
  • Provide professional development and support to colleagues to enhance teaching and learning practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of literacy and oracy initiatives and report progress to leadership.
  • Work closely with EAL learners to ensure they receive targeted support within an international Cambridge curriculum setting.
  • Promote a culture of creativity, performance, and student confidence-building through enrichment and performance opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience supporting EAL learners in international or bilingual educational settings.
  • Strong understanding of the Cambridge curriculum and the literacy demands of IGCSE pathways.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire both students and colleagues through effective communication and leadership.
  • Commitment to improving student outcomes through innovative and evidence-based literacy practices.
  • Experience in developing and delivering literacy and oracy programmes across multiple year groups.

Preferred

  • Experience with drama, public speaking, or performance-based learning initiatives.
  • Familiarity with LAMDA or similar oracy and performance programmes.
  • Experience in curriculum design and strategic educational leadership.
  • Strong background in professional development and teacher training.
  • Fluency in multiple languages or experience working in multilingual environments.
