The Opportunity:

A Maternity Cover Teacher Early Years is needed to support a thriving primary school during the 2026/27 academic year. This role offers the chance to work within a supportive team and make a meaningful impact on young learners. Whether teaching an Early Years class or acting as a Continuity teacher across the school, the successful candidate will contribute to a positive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in line with the English National Curriculum and Development Matters guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including English Language Learners, through effective EAL teaching strategies.
  • Implement assessment for learning techniques to monitor and enhance student progress.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of an enriching extra-curricular programme.
  • Apply and uphold all school policies, including behaviour management, child protection, and health and safety standards.
  • Utilise ICT resources to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, particularly in the areas of EAL and ICT.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Fully qualified teacher with QTS.
  • Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum and Development Matters guidance for the EYFS.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Experience or willingness to develop skills in EAL teaching and learning strategies.
  • Proficient in assessment for learning techniques.
  • Flexible and creative approach to curriculum delivery.
  • Commitment to extra-curricular activities and student development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude towards professional development.

Preferred

  • Experience working with English Language Learners (ELL).
  • Experience with ICT integration in teaching.
  • Experience in a school setting with a strong focus on student welfare and safeguarding.
