The Opportunity:

As a High Needs Teacher, you will lead a STARs class and provide tailored support to students with complex learning needs. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students and contribute to a dynamic, inclusive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a STARs class, creating a safe and structured learning environment.
  • Design, implement, and review Individual Learning and Health Plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Collaborate with the STARs Co-ordinator and multidisciplinary team to support student development.
  • Plan, teach, and assess using differentiated and evidence-informed approaches.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide regular feedback to parents and colleagues.
  • Support LSAs and coordinate classroom team practices for consistency.
  • Work closely with parents, teachers, and external specialists to ensure effective communication and support.
  • Contribute to the STARs curriculum and promote inclusive practices across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in inclusive education.
  • Proven ability to support students with complex learning needs, including ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Down Syndrome.
  • Strong understanding of Individual Learning and Health Plans.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to student safety and well-being.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a STARs or similar specialist programme.
  • Background in differentiated teaching and evidence-based practices.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
