The Opportunity:
As a Matron Assistant, you will support the Matron in providing essential care and support to students in the boarding house. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, flexible, and passionate about working with young people in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the sorting, checking, and repairing of pupils’ clothing and laundry.
- Support the on-duty Matron with pastoral care duties and the administration of medication under supervision.
- Work collaboratively with House Parents, House Tutors, and other Matrons’ Assistants to ensure the well-being of students.
- Use sewing skills to repair students’ clothing as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students in the boarding house.
- Attend training sessions to develop skills in medication administration and other relevant areas.
- Be available for additional hours on Mondays and Thursdays as required.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Ability to sew and use a sewing machine.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Sensitivity and the ability to work with young people in a pastoral setting.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar role within a school or care setting.
- Previous experience with medication administration or health and safety procedures.
- Experience working in a boarding environment or with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of first aid or childcare qualifications.
