The Opportunity:

As a Mental Health Lead, you will provide strategic leadership in mental health and wellbeing across the school, ensuring that pupils receive comprehensive support throughout their educational journey. This role is ideal for someone passionate about promoting mental health and trauma-informed practices in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive mental health and wellbeing strategy for the school.
  • Design, implement, and quality-assure wellbeing support provision for pupils of all ages.
  • Supervise and support a team of mental health professionals within the school.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate mental health initiatives into the school’s overall pastoral care framework.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on trauma-informed approaches and mental health best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of mental health programs and interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with external agencies and professionals to support pupil wellbeing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong, demonstrable experience in mental health practice, ideally within education or child and adolescent settings.
  • A solid understanding of trauma-informed approaches and their application within schools.
  • Senior leadership experience, with the capability to manage and lead teams within a mental health or safeguarding context.
  • Experience in designing and implementing wellbeing support provision for pupils.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • A background as a senior mental health practitioner.
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection.
  • Familiarity with working in an independent school setting.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support programs.
  • Knowledge of mental health policy and legislation.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on full time equivalent of £55,000 to £65,000.
