The Opportunity:
The Senior Deputy Head (Pastoral) plays a key leadership role within the school, working closely with the Head of the Foundation to drive strategic development and pastoral care across the institution. This is a resident role with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student well-being and school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership and support to the Head of the Foundation in their absence
- Oversee and develop the pastoral care strategy across the school
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies
- Work collaboratively with the Lead DDSL and other DSLs to maintain a safe and supportive environment
- Support the development of a positive and inclusive school culture
- Ensure the effective implementation of policies and procedures related to student welfare
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the school and its pastoral framework
- Maintain strong communication with parents, staff, and external agencies
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within an educational setting
- Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Experience in managing and leading a pastoral team
- Commitment to the values and mission of the school
Preferred
- Experience in a boarding or independent school setting
- Leadership experience in a large or multi-academy trust environment
- Experience in strategic planning and development
- Knowledge of child protection screening processes
- Experience in managing and supporting students with special educational needs
