The Opportunity:

As a Non-Residential Houseparent, you will play a vital role in supporting the pastoral care of boarding students. This position involves assisting with evening duties, supervision, and ensuring the well-being of students in a structured and caring environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residential houseparents with afternoon tea and bedtime routines for boarders.
  • Supervise prep sessions and ensure students complete their academic tasks.
  • Attend supper with boarders and provide a supportive presence during meals.
  • Support with evening duties as required, ensuring the smooth operation of the boarding house.
  • Collaborate with resident staff to maintain a cohesive and effective team.
  • Ensure professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Support students in a safe and nurturing environment during evening hours.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young people in a residential or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a houseparent or pastoral care role.
  • Experience working in a school or boarding environment.
  • Knowledge of child development and behaviour management.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and support the school’s ethos and values.
