The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Lead, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Pastoral and Vice Principal Student Experience to ensure the school fulfils its mission and strategic goals. You will be responsible for managing a major part of the student experience, including transition, wellbeing, and academic progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Pastoral and Vice Principal in achieving the school’s strategic goals and mission.
  • Manage and lead a team of tutors, ensuring high performance and effective student support.
  • Oversee the transition of students from school to college, ensuring a smooth and supported experience.
  • Collaborate with faculty heads, marketing, and the Vice Principal to promote the school as a first choice for students.
  • Work closely with the pastoral team to support students of all abilities and backgrounds in realising their full potential.
  • Deliver individualised student tutorials and ensure students receive the necessary academic and pastoral support.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the pastoral team to ensure consistent quality and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s enrichment and wellbeing programmes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior pastoral or student support role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience in managing student transitions and supporting student wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and across different departments.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Sixth Form College or similar educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the Upgrade Programme, A-levels, T-levels, and vocational courses.
  • Experience in staff development and training.
  • Knowledge of student support systems and pastoral care strategies.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £35,135 - £37,733 per annum.
