The Opportunity:
As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for students. You will support pupils during challenging times and work closely with the Head of Behaviour and Welfare to ensure their wellbeing and academic success. Key Responsibilities:
- Promote an inclusive, respectful environment where all young people are treated with dignity.
- Support pupils during lessons, unstructured times, and moments of crisis, helping them stay engaged in learning.
- Assist in developing and implementing individual educational and behaviour plans.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and that pupils are protected from harm.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times and model good professional practice.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to enhance student wellbeing and behaviour.
- Contribute to long-term planning that supports pupils’ holistic development.
- Provide guidance and support to students with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSEs in Maths and English
- Experience working in a challenging educational environment
- Successful experience of working with students with social, emotional and behavioural challenges
Preferred
- Experience in pastoral care or youth support
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
