The Opportunity:

As Deputy Headteacher (Quality of Education), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of pupils and driving excellence in teaching and learning. This is a leadership opportunity for someone passionate about curriculum development, student outcomes, and collaborative working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on curriculum design and development to ensure quality, progression and coherence across all subjects.
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to maintain high standards in teaching, learning and behaviour.
  • Oversee positive behaviour support strategies and ensure effective implementation with clinical colleagues.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil progress to ensure individual outcomes are met and supported.
  • Contribute to referral assessments and placement decisions in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures, the SEND Code of Practice and all relevant legislation.
  • Build strong relationships with families, carers, external professionals and partner agencies.
  • Model high-quality teaching and behaviour practice, and undertake teaching responsibilities as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience teaching children and young people with autism, complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Experience leading on the quality of education and curriculum development.
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted frameworks and inspection processes.
  • Ability to manage, support and develop staff effectively.
  • Experience managing budgets and resources.
  • Confident leadership, communication and people-management skills.
  • Strong organisational, IT and time-management skills.
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding and regulatory requirements.
  • Degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Preferred

  • Relevant sector qualifications and willingness to undertake further training.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
