The Opportunity:

We are seeking an inspiring Art Teacher to join a collaborative and vibrant school community. This role involves delivering engaging lessons, supporting student progression, and contributing to a broad range of extra-curricular activities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about art and committed to fostering creativity in students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality art lessons that promote student engagement and understanding.
  • Support the progression of students across Years 7 to 13, including preparation for public examinations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and develop schemes of work and teaching resources.
  • Participate in and lead extra-curricular activities that enhance the school’s creative offering.
  • Monitor student academic progress and provide regular, constructive feedback.
  • Act as a Form tutor, supporting student well-being and pastoral care.
  • Develop positive relationships with students both in the classroom and in the Form Room.
  • Contribute to the school’s commitment to inclusion and diversity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in art education.
  • Strong understanding of art curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students of all ages.
  • Commitment to pastoral care and student well-being.
  • Willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities.

Preferred

  • Specialism in sculpture or ceramics.
  • Experience in developing and delivering creative extra-curricular programs.
  • Familiarity with the GDST ethos and values.
  • Experience with teaching students across a wide age range.
