The Opportunity:

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will be responsible for protecting the welfare of students and ensuring their safety within the school community. This role is essential in maintaining a secure and nurturing environment for all students and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly and effectively to safeguarding concerns raised by students, staff, or external agencies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all safeguarding cases and communications.
  • Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and external agencies to ensure best practice and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support a culture of safety and trust.
  • Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance safeguarding knowledge and skills.
  • Support the school in implementing safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to other staff members on safeguarding matters.
  • Contribute to the overall well-being of students through proactive and compassionate engagement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a safeguarding or child protection role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, parents, and professionals.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple cases and responsibilities effectively.
  • A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
  • A relevant qualification or experience in safeguarding, child protection, or social work.

Preferred

  • Experience working with young people and families in a school or community setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
  • Experience in managing complex safeguarding cases.
  • Experience in delivering training or support to colleagues on safeguarding matters.
