The Opportunity:

As a School Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting students' emotional and academic wellbeing. You will work collaboratively with teachers, families, and external agencies to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling sessions to support students’ emotional and social development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement school-wide wellbeing initiatives and programmes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and external agencies.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding, confidentiality, and best practice protocols in pastoral care.
  • Support students in academic and personal challenges through targeted interventions.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote student wellbeing.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions to stay informed on best practices in student support and counselling.
  • Maintain detailed records and reports on student progress and interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A recognised counselling, psychology, or social work qualification (minimum Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred).
  • Proven experience working in a school-based setting, with previous UAE experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group support to children and young people.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and pastoral care best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a British curriculum school or international setting.
  • Familiarity with UAE educational standards and practices.
  • Experience with student wellbeing programmes and mental health initiatives.
