The Opportunity:
As a School Counsellor, you will be instrumental in supporting the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of secondary learners. This role is central to the school’s mission to foster resilience, belonging, and positive development in students as they navigate adolescence and academic challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling to support emotional regulation and self-awareness.
- Design and deliver wellbeing and SEL programs that build empathy, confidence, and resilience.
- Support and mentor student wellbeing initiatives, including the Mindful Mantas Team.
- Collaborate with staff to integrate wellbeing practices into everyday learning and pastoral care.
- Organise and lead whole-school wellbeing events, such as Mental Health Month and Digital Detox Week.
- Partner with parents through workshops and consultations to strengthen home-school collaboration.
- Conduct wellbeing surveys and use insights to shape future wellbeing strategies and policies.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity, empathy, and respect across the school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Professional certification in school counselling, adolescent psychology, or wellbeing support.
- Proven experience in supporting secondary learners through wellbeing, SEL, or pastoral programmes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust with adolescents and families.
Preferred
- Experience in designing and implementing school-wide wellbeing strategies.
- Familiarity with KHDA inspection standards and wellbeing reporting requirements.
- Experience with learner transition and orientation programs.
- Knowledge of adolescent wellbeing trends and best practices in educational psychology.
