The Opportunity:
As a School Counsellor, you will be instrumental in promoting the social, emotional, and academic wellbeing of students. Guided by the school's core values, you will provide vital support to pupils in need, fostering resilience, confidence, and emotional literacy. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional guidance and support to students, particularly those who are vulnerable or in need of additional care.
- Collaborate with staff, parents, and the wider community to promote a culture of empathy, integrity, and mutual respect.
- Develop and implement strategies that support student wellbeing and foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures in the UK and UAE.
- Work closely with pastoral teams to monitor and support student progress and development.
- Deliver individual and group counselling sessions to help students navigate personal and academic challenges.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and interventions.
- Participate in staff training and professional development to enhance counselling practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Appropriate degree in Counselling or Psychology.
- Minimum three years’ experience providing well-being and mental health support to children and young people, preferably in an independent school setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures in the UK, and awareness of UAE safeguarding frameworks.
- A clean criminal record check including International Child Protection Check (ICPC) from the UK or appropriate police and other checks from relevant countries of residence/work.
