School Nurse - Bank Cover needed for proactive and reactive medical support at a school.

The Opportunity:

As a School Nurse on a cover basis, you will provide essential medical care to students and support the school's pastoral team. This role is ideal for a Registered General Nurse who can work independently and make clinical decisions within their scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid and general medical care for students and staff.
  • Contribute to health education programmes for students.
  • Maintain and manage students’ medical records and communicate with parents regarding medical concerns.
  • Order and manage medical supplies in the absence of the School Nurse.
  • Accompany students to hospital and liaise with parents for care handover.
  • Inform Deputy Heads and staff of medical issues affecting student wellbeing or performance.
  • Liaise with the School Counsellors or Pastoral Team as needed.
  • Coordinate childhood immunisation programmes.
  • Advise and participate in the PHSME curriculum when required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Registered General Nurse with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Confidence in making clinical decisions within your area of competence.
  • Experience in providing first aid and medical care in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with parents, staff, and medical professionals.

Preferred

  • Experience in health education or curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of childhood immunisation programmes.
  • Familiarity with PHSME (Personal, Health and Social Education) curriculum.
  • Flexibility to work on a cover basis as required.
