Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualised teaching to a class of mixed ability students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) in line with the SEND Code of Practice 2014.
  • Collaborate with support staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure a consistent and supportive approach for students.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages student engagement and progress.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing detailed feedback to parents and colleagues.
  • Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
  • Promote the social, emotional, and communication development of students through targeted interventions.
  • Work closely with the wider school community to support the overall vision and mission of the institution.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a valid teaching qualification (e.g., QTS).
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, including those on the autistic spectrum.
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice 2014.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to working in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a mainstream or special needs school setting.
  • Knowledge of differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Experience with behaviour management techniques tailored to students with complex needs.
  • Experience with assistive technology or communication aids.
