The Opportunity:
As a Senior Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting practical learning within the Hospitality & Catering/Food area. You will ensure the safe and effective operation of specialist equipment, and provide technical and health & safety support to teaching staff and students. This is a key role in helping to deliver high-quality, industry-relevant learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, maintain, and operate specialist equipment and facilities safely.
- Work closely with teaching staff to support practical learning and curriculum needs.
- Provide technical and health & safety advice to teachers, technicians, and students.
- Assist the Director of Learning for Technology in organising and managing resources.
- Carry out risk assessments for technician and classroom activities.
- Take a lead role in the specialist subject area relevant to the role.
- Support the coordination of practical resources and facilities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across all practical activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant technical qualifications and experience in a practical or technical field.
- Experience in a school or educational setting, preferably in a technical or practical role.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to provide technical support and advice to teaching staff and students.
- Experience in the Hospitality & Catering/Food industry or related area.
Preferred
- Experience in managing and maintaining specialist equipment.
- Experience in delivering practical learning support to students.
- Knowledge of curriculum requirements for technical subjects.
- Experience in risk assessment and management.
