Summary:

Join a school as a Senior Technician for 30 hours per week, term time only.

The Opportunity:

As a Senior Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting practical learning within the Hospitality & Catering/Food area. You will ensure the safe and effective operation of specialist equipment, and provide technical and health & safety support to teaching staff and students. This is a key role in helping to deliver high-quality, industry-relevant learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, maintain, and operate specialist equipment and facilities safely.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support practical learning and curriculum needs.
  • Provide technical and health & safety advice to teachers, technicians, and students.
  • Assist the Director of Learning for Technology in organising and managing resources.
  • Carry out risk assessments for technician and classroom activities.
  • Take a lead role in the specialist subject area relevant to the role.
  • Support the coordination of practical resources and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across all practical activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant technical qualifications and experience in a practical or technical field.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting, preferably in a technical or practical role.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to provide technical support and advice to teaching staff and students.
  • Experience in the Hospitality & Catering/Food industry or related area.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing and maintaining specialist equipment.
  • Experience in delivering practical learning support to students.
  • Knowledge of curriculum requirements for technical subjects.
  • Experience in risk assessment and management.
