The Opportunity:

As a Senior Science Technician, you will lead the Science Technician team and provide expert technical support to ensure the delivery of high-quality science education from Key Stage 3 through to A Level. This is a pivotal role in maintaining safe, efficient, and effective practical learning experiences for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the Science Technician team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, chemicals, and materials for science lessons, demonstrations, and assessments.
  • Support teaching staff in the delivery of the science curriculum with expert technical advice.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in the science laboratory and preparatory areas.
  • Coordinate and manage workloads, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and maintain high standards.
  • Contribute to the training and development of colleagues, including student teachers.
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory systems for all science resources.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to improve science provision and support the school's vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working as a science technician in a laboratory or similar scientific environment.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in a science education setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to the school’s vision and key drivers.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Previous leadership or management experience.
  • Knowledge of science curriculum requirements at Key Stage 3 through to A Level.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and chemical handling procedures.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching and learning strategies.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range: £25,958.00 - £28,625.00 pro rata and £28,598.00 - £31,537.00 FTE.
