The Opportunity:

As a SEND STEM Teacher, you will deliver high-quality, inclusive education tailored to the needs of students with complex needs and challenging behaviours. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging STEM lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Implement targeted Maths and Science interventions to improve student attainment and confidence.
  • Collaborate with internal and external professionals, including psychologists and therapists, to support student progress.
  • Work within a structured spiral programme, revisiting and extending knowledge across key concepts and topics.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment aligned with the school’s values.
  • Support the development of students’ social and emotional skills alongside academic achievement.
  • Contribute to the creation and delivery of differentiated curriculum plans that align with the National Curriculum.
  • Engage with students in a positive and supportive manner to foster a sense of belonging and motivation.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in a SEND environment or similar provision.
  • Commitment to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching STEM subjects to students with complex needs.
  • Familiarity with differentiated teaching strategies and curriculum planning.
  • Experience with spiral teaching programmes and concept-based learning.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in therapeutic or trauma-informed education settings.
