The Opportunity:
As a SEND STEM Teacher, you will deliver high-quality, inclusive education tailored to the needs of students with complex needs and challenging behaviours. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging STEM lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs.
- Implement targeted Maths and Science interventions to improve student attainment and confidence.
- Collaborate with internal and external professionals, including psychologists and therapists, to support student progress.
- Work within a structured spiral programme, revisiting and extending knowledge across key concepts and topics.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment aligned with the school’s values.
- Support the development of students’ social and emotional skills alongside academic achievement.
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of differentiated curriculum plans that align with the National Curriculum.
- Engage with students in a positive and supportive manner to foster a sense of belonging and motivation.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in a SEND environment or similar provision.
- Commitment to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching STEM subjects to students with complex needs.
- Familiarity with differentiated teaching strategies and curriculum planning.
- Experience with spiral teaching programmes and concept-based learning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in therapeutic or trauma-informed education settings.
