The Opportunity:
As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will lead and shape inclusive practice across the High School, ensuring every student is supported to reach their full potential. This role is central to creating a positive, lasting impact on student outcomes and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the High School Learning Support department, ensuring high standards of teaching and support.
- Collaborate with teachers, LSAs, and HLTAs to develop and implement individual learning and support plans.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Learning Support staff, identifying and fostering emerging talent.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to support best practices in inclusive education.
- Liaise with parents, teachers, and external specialists to ensure a unified approach to student development.
- Oversee the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of Individual Learning and Health Care Plans (ILHCP) and Student Support Plans (SSP).
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of robust procedures for High School Admissions and Learning Support.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources to ensure maximum impact for students with additional needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Professional Certification: NPQSENCO, NASENCO, or iSENCO (or currently working towards).
- Proven experience leading large teams of teachers and LSAs (UK experience is highly desirable).
Preferred
- Level 7 Assessor certification.
- Master’s degree in SEND or a related field.
