The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with communication needs across the school. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure every student has the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct formal assessments and screeners to identify speech and language needs in students aged 2–18.
• Deliver individual and small-group therapy sessions focused on speech, language, and social communication skills.
• Integrate communication strategies into the classroom environment to support students with learning disabilities.
• Lead the implementation of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices and systems.
• Develop comprehensive therapy plans and data-driven reports for families and external professionals.
• Provide training and support to parents and staff on communication strategies and techniques.
• Collaborate with teachers, learning support staff, and other therapists to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
• Stay current with best practices in speech and language therapy methodologies and technologies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) and a minimum of 2 years of clinical or school-based experience.
• Experience working with children aged 2–19 with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD, Down’s Syndrome, and physical or complex medical needs.
• Proficiency in current speech and language therapy methodologies and familiarity with AAC equipment and software.
• Proven ability in classroom management and creating inclusive, modified learning environments.

Preferred

• Experience in a school-based setting and working within a transdisciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex information to parents and colleagues with empathy.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement specialized educational programs.
• Experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
