Speech and Language Therapist needed at a school with a strong ethos and dedicated team.

About the School:

A school established in 2007 with a strong ethos and dedicated team, providing specialist support for students aged 5 to 19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. It places equal emphasis on the educational, social and psychological development of students.

The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide high-quality speech and language therapy services to children with complex developmental needs. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion the role of speech and language therapy within the school, promoting understanding of communication needs among staff, parents, and caregivers.
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based interventions for children and young people with SEMH and SLCN.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to improve the quality of service and communicate complex and sensitive information to a range of stakeholders.
  • Coordinate, organise, and prioritise your own workload and, where appropriate, the work of others in the team.
  • Maintain up-to-date evidence-based skills, knowledge, and clinical competence.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC and RCSLT membership
  • Proven ability to independently assess and implement management plans for children with speech and language needs
  • A valid UK driving licence
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, with at least 1 year in a paediatric or special education setting

Preferred

  • Experience working with children and young people with Social, Emotional and Behavioural issues
  • GCSE/O’level or equivalent
  • Willingness to undertake a funded NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
