The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Swimming Teacher Contractor to deliver engaging and safe swimming sessions to local primary school children. This role plays a vital part in promoting physical well-being and confidence in young learners, within a first-class 25-metre pool facility equipped with camera technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality swimming sessions tailored to the abilities of children in Years 3 to 6.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, adhering to current health and safety standards.
  • Stay up to date with modern teaching techniques and best practices in swimming instruction.
  • Encourage and motivate children of all swimming abilities to reach their full potential.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and session attendance.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Bursaries, Partnerships and Community Link to support the school’s community engagement initiatives.
  • Comply with all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification (e.g., SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming, STA Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification or equivalent).
  • Strong previous experience in teaching swimming to children.
  • Up to date knowledge of current teaching techniques and health and safety requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred

  • National Rescue Award for Swimming teachers and coaches (NRASTC) or full lifeguard certificate.
  • Experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with the use of camera technology in a swimming environment.
