The Opportunity:

A Teacher of Chemistry is needed to join a dynamic Science Department, where practical learning and student engagement are at the core of teaching. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic and personal development within a supportive and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Chemistry lessons up to A Level, following the AQA and OCR A specifications.
  • Plan and implement engaging and effective science practicals with a focus on safety and student engagement.
  • Support students in developing their knowledge and skills across all Key Stages, including GCSE and Key Stage 3 Science.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the University Foundation Programme (UFP).
  • Participate in co-curricular activities and enrichment opportunities, such as science competitions and off-site visits.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support learning and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and science technicians to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment in line with safeguarding policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject.
  • Demonstrably strong subject knowledge in Chemistry.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Confidence in delivering practical science lessons with a focus on safety and organisation.
  • Proficiency in using technology for teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Postgraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Experience in contributing to a co-curriculum programme.
  • Experience supporting students with English as a second language.
  • Knowledge of the A-Level Practical Endorsement and CPAC requirements.
  • Experience in supporting students with SEND.
