The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of Science to join a successful and supportive Science Faculty. This is a temporary maternity cover role with the potential for long-term opportunities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science education and committed to raising student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Science lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
  • Support students in achieving excellent exam results through effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and review of comprehensive Science schemes of work.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, technicians, and support staff to enhance Science teaching and learning.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students where appropriate.
  • Engage in Continuing Professional Learning and development opportunities.
  • Manage laboratory resources and ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support the delivery of additional Science-related courses such as GCSE Psychology and BTEC qualifications.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant Science subject knowledge.
  • Experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with AQA Combined Science or Triple Science GCSE.
  • Experience in delivering vocational Science courses such as BTEC Health and Social Care.
  • Experience with enquiry-based and contextualised teaching approaches.
  • Familiarity with using technology in Science teaching.
