As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils in a nurturing and challenging environment. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with autism and complex needs, while being part of a dedicated and professional team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils individually and in small groups with learning, communication, and social skills
- Assist teachers with planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities
- Implement positive behaviour strategies and maintain a calm, inclusive classroom environment
- Prepare resources, support school trips, and contribute to enrichment activities
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour
- Supervise pupils during breaks, lunches, and activities
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Promote independence, confidence, and self-belief in every pupil
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in educational, childcare, or SEN settings
- Ability to remain calm and positive when supporting pupils with complex needs
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence and be comfortable supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom
Preferred
- Experience with autism and complex needs
- Previous experience in a school setting with small class sizes
- Experience with implementing behaviour support strategies
- Experience with preparing and delivering resources for pupils with additional needs
