The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students with SEMH and complex needs, helping them build confidence, independence, and curiosity. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a positive and engaging learning experience for every pupil.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teachers in delivering hands-on, inspiring lessons
- Lead small groups and provide tailored 1:1 support to meet each pupil’s individual needs
- Encourage confidence, independence, and curiosity in students
- Work across indoor and outdoor settings to enhance learning experiences
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to promote student wellbeing and progress
- Ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all students
- Follow school policies and procedures related to safeguarding and student welfare
- Assist in the planning and delivery of structured learning activities
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience working with children or holding GCSEs in English and Maths
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, adaptability, and a caring attitude
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture
Preferred
- Experience in special education or working with students with SEMH challenges
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and neurodiversity-focused approaches
- Experience with behaviour management strategies
- Previous teaching or support assistant experience
