The Opportunity:
As the Head of Geography, you will lead the Geography Department and play a key role in shaping the curriculum and driving student success. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver a broad, balanced, and relevant Geography curriculum that meets the needs of all students
- Monitor and support the academic progress and personal development of students as a teacher, form tutor, and department leader
- Develop and implement teaching and learning initiatives that enhance student attainment and engagement
- Support and mentor trainee teachers within the department
- Work with the Principal to manage and deploy resources effectively to support Geography subject improvement
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to raise attainment for all students, including targeted groups
- Collaborate with other leaders within the school and across the Multi Academy Trust to share best practice
- Represent the school at relevant events and contribute to the development of high-quality training for staff
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting
- Strong subject knowledge in Geography
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery
- Ability to monitor and evaluate student progress using data
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
- Experience in mentoring and supporting trainee teachers
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department within a Multi Academy Trust
- Experience with data analysis and targeted support for Pupil Premium, SEND, and Gifted and Talented students
- Experience in developing and delivering staff training
- Familiarity with United Learning values and leadership principles
