The Opportunity:

As the Head of Geography, you will lead the Geography Department and play a key role in shaping the curriculum and driving student success. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver a broad, balanced, and relevant Geography curriculum that meets the needs of all students
  • Monitor and support the academic progress and personal development of students as a teacher, form tutor, and department leader
  • Develop and implement teaching and learning initiatives that enhance student attainment and engagement
  • Support and mentor trainee teachers within the department
  • Work with the Principal to manage and deploy resources effectively to support Geography subject improvement
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to raise attainment for all students, including targeted groups
  • Collaborate with other leaders within the school and across the Multi Academy Trust to share best practice
  • Represent the school at relevant events and contribute to the development of high-quality training for staff

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting
  • Strong subject knowledge in Geography
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate student progress using data
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting trainee teachers

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department within a Multi Academy Trust
  • Experience with data analysis and targeted support for Pupil Premium, SEND, and Gifted and Talented students
  • Experience in developing and delivering staff training
  • Familiarity with United Learning values and leadership principles
