The Opportunity:

As Finance Director, you will provide strategic financial leadership across a school’s family of academies. This role is central to shaping sustainable, high-quality SEN services and ensuring the financial health of the institution. You will lead a dedicated finance team with a focus on customer-centric service and strong relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the finance team, ensuring a customer-focused approach and strong internal relationships.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting in line with the school’s strategic goals.
  • Manage the complexities of charity accounting and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
  • Support the development and implementation of sustainable financial strategies that align with the school’s mission.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape long-term financial planning and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including governors and external auditors.
  • Ensure that all financial processes are efficient, effective, and aligned with best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably within the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of charity accounting, financial planning, and reporting.
  • Experience in leading and managing a finance team.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience in special educational needs (SEN) provision or related fields.
  • Background in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape and implement sustainable financial strategies.
  • Experience in supporting strategic planning and resource allocation.
