The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs, including SEMH and SEND. This is a dynamic and impactful role where you will help shape a positive learning environment and contribute to the development of every child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teaching and learning through individual and group sessions
- Manage classroom resources and maintain an engaging learning environment
- Take students on educational trips and visits
- Provide social support by having lunch with students who struggle socially
- Implement strong behaviour management strategies to ensure student safety
- Create and teach games that develop social skills and learning outcomes
- Design and maintain displays that enhance the learning experience
- Celebrate student achievements and contribute to a positive school culture
- Participate in therapeutic training and reflective practice sessions
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and consistency
- Basic understanding of English and Maths
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
- Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS check
Preferred
- Experience working with children with SEMH or SEND
- Background in education or child development
- Experience in therapeutic or reflective practice
- Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches
- Experience in creating learning resources or displays
