The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs, including SEMH and SEND. This is a dynamic and impactful role where you will help shape a positive learning environment and contribute to the development of every child.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning through individual and group sessions
  • Manage classroom resources and maintain an engaging learning environment
  • Take students on educational trips and visits
  • Provide social support by having lunch with students who struggle socially
  • Implement strong behaviour management strategies to ensure student safety
  • Create and teach games that develop social skills and learning outcomes
  • Design and maintain displays that enhance the learning experience
  • Celebrate student achievements and contribute to a positive school culture
  • Participate in therapeutic training and reflective practice sessions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and consistency
  • Basic understanding of English and Maths
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS check

Preferred

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or SEND
  • Background in education or child development
  • Experience in therapeutic or reflective practice
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches
  • Experience in creating learning resources or displays
