The Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Workshop Carpenter and Joiner to support the maintenance and improvement of the school site. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the school's facilities are safe, functional, and of the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a wide range of carpentry and joinery tasks across the school site.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of workshop machinery, including CNC machines, spindle moulders, and table saws.
  • Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
  • Work at heights and perform manual handling tasks in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Drive a small truck or van as required for site-related tasks.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Estates Department to support school operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Completed a recognised trade training or apprenticeship, with an NVQ and/or City & Guilds qualification in Carpentry and Joinery, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience using a wide range of workshop machinery.
  • Full driving licence and the ability to drive a small truck or van.
  • Familiarity with working at heights and manual handling procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work across the school site and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
