The Opportunity:

As a Cleric Governor, you will play a vital role in supporting the school’s mission and vision. This voluntary position offers an opportunity to contribute to the governance and strategic direction of a school with a rich heritage and strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Governing Body in fulfilling its statutory and strategic responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s five-year plan, Haileybury 2030.
  • Provide spiritual guidance and support in line with the school’s Anglican values and Christian ethos.
  • Engage with the school community, including students, staff, and parents, to promote the school’s mission and values.
  • Attend meetings of the Governing Body and related committees as required.
  • Advise on matters relating to the school’s religious and moral education.
  • Promote the school’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding.
  • Support the leadership team in maintaining the school’s high academic and co-curricular standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Active membership of the clergy.
  • A strong commitment to the Christian faith and the Anglican tradition.
  • Experience in a governance or leadership role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness to undergo child protection vetting and criminal record checks.

Preferred

  • Experience in school governance or similar voluntary roles.
  • An understanding of the role of faith in education.
  • Experience in pastoral care or youth ministry.
  • A background in education or a related field.
